Katha, 1 July

An inauguration ceremony of a rural bridge took place in Kontha Village, Katha Township in Sagaing Region this morning.

The rural bridge crossing the creek is of wooden type and is 200 ft. long and 10 ft. wide. The bridge was built with more than Ks. 10 million financed by the regional government under the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Fund in the financial year 2018-2019 and contributed by local people. Construction of the bridge began in April this year.

On the occasion, Speaker of the regional parliament U Than, the Pyithu Hluttaw Representative U Myint Kyi, the village administrator and the chairman of the bridge construction committee unveiled the bridge by cutting a ceremonial ribbon.

Residents from nearby villages can now use the new bridge in all seasons with greater ease, thereby contributing to socioeconomic development of the area.—Han Myo Kyaw (Katha)
