A workshop on E-commerce for Trade Negotiators was held at Ministry of Transport and Communications in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
The purpose of the workshop is to build capacity of staff so that Myanmar can catch up with other ASEAN countries in implementing projects included in ASEAN economic community 2025.
At the event, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, U Tha Oo said that this workshop aims at developing digital technology and E-commerce, rising standards of national level grand strategy on development and Part of that E -Commerce plays in Myanmar’s Economy and leveling up Cross Border E-commerce and collaboration within ASEAN .
Ministry of Transport and Communications aims at developing digital economy. With this aim, they are taking charge of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership(RCEP) and ASEAN Coordinating Committee on E-commerce (ACCEC). In Myanmar, they are working with Digital Economic Development Committee.
They are also managing The ICT and E-commerce Working Committee, a committee for executing aims of ACE 2025. The workshop was held by United Nation Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and Economic Research institute for ASEAN and East Asia(ERIA) under the leadership of ministry of transport and communications.
At the workshop, officials of the Ministry of Trade and Commerce, UNCTAD, ERIA, and private organizations discussed development of global and ASEAN digital technology and E-commerce, Myanmar’s National Grand Strategy on development and part of E-commerce in it and developing cross border E-commerce and collaboration with in ASEAN.—MNA
