Workshop on governors' role in Indian federal system held

A workshop on the role of governors in India’s federalism was held yesterday morning at the headquarters of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

SAC Member Minister of the Union Government Office National Unity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee Chairman Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and committee members, retired military officers, departmental staff, Ambassador of India to Myanmar Mr Vinay Kumar and embassy officials, and representatives from seven NCA-Signatory EAOs (ALP, DKBA, KNU/KNLA-PC, LDU, NMSP, PNLO, RCSS) led by Dr Naw Ka Por Htoo attended the workshop.

 

In the workshop, NSPNC Chair Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, Indian Ambassador Mr Vinay Kumar and KNU/KNLA-PC Vice-Chairperson Dr Naw Ka Por Htoo, on behalf of the seven ethnic armed organizations that signed NCA, gave welcoming speeches.

 

Afterwards, Professor Sudarshan Ramaswamy from India led the discussions and explained the role of governors in India’s federal system. Participants shared experiences of India and the roles and responsibilities of governors. Questions were raised on international experiences and views exchanged before the documentary group photo was taken. — MNA/TS
