A workshop on development of Karen women was held at Bago Region Director’s office of Department of Ethnic Rights Protection in Ottha Myothit town of Bago region this morning with an opening speech by Bago Region Minister for Karen ethnic affairs Daw Naw Pwe Sae.
Then, Director Naw Thet Thet Tun of Karen Women’s Empowerment Group ( KWEG) explained the background history of KWEG, the work programs of the group, detailing how to save money on a daily basis.
Afterwards, Daw Jae Ni of the group gave a talk with a title of “ starting a business and developing it” , answering the quarries raised by Karen ethnic people.
The aim of the workshop is to help develop the knowledge of Karen women in the region, to protect the rights of them, to help them set up self-reliant credit associations and to create job opportunities for them.
The workshop was held under the leadership of KWEG which is headquartered in Yangon.—Tin Soe ( Bago)
