THE World Kidney Day cere­mony was held at 9 am on 12 March at Kanthaya Hospital, Pyay Road, Hline Township, Yangon.

The ceremony was attend­ed by health specialists and guests from the medical field.

First, Dr Win Myat Oo de­livered the opening speech on World Kidney Day, followed by Dr Aung Chan Nyein’s pres­entation on kidney disease.

Then, Dr Aung Ko Lwin, a kidney transplant special­ist, explained the importance of kidney transplantation and presented certificates of ap­preciation to two kidney do­nors.

In addition, GAIA Pilates Studio demonstrated exercise programmes, and the World Kidney Day celebration con­tinued with related activities. World Kidney Day was first celebrated on 12 March 2006 and will celebrate its 20^th an­niversary on 12 March 2026. — MNA/MKKS
