THE opening ceremony of the Certified Pesti­cide Users Certification Course 1/2026, organized by the Yangon Region Department of Agricul­ture, was held yester­day morning at the De­partment of Agriculture meeting hall at 9^th-mile, Mayangon Township.

U Tint Naing, Head of the Yangon Region De­partment of Agriculture explained the importance of ensuring food safety by eliminating pesticide residues in agricultural products and stressed that pesticides must be sold in accordance with the law.

Deputy Director Daw Khin Lay Zan of the Crop Protection Division of the Department of Ag­riculture (Head Office) then explained the objec­tives of the course and outlined its regulations, after which the trainers introduced the topics to be covered.

The course was at­tended by 228 pesticide retailers and pesticide spraying operators. It will be conducted from 11 to 13 June. — Oktha/ MKKS
