THE  Christian  communities  in  Myanmar  will  celebrate  Christmas  Festival  from  23  to 25 December in the urban area of Yangon, for the third time, under the permission of the  Yangon  Region  Government, according to the festival organizing committee.


“This  will  be  the  third  time we will hold a Christmas festival in Myanmar. We have planned to set up eight stages in the Yangon downtown area for  the  festival.  The  festival  will  be  held  over  three  days  and  performers  and  singers  will  participate  in  entertainment programs. Everyone can join the festival with us,” said the  secretary  of  the  festival  organizing committee. 


The entertainment stages will be placed at the corner of the Bogyoke Aung San Road and Shwedagon Pagoda Road, in  front  of  the  Central  Hotel  and  KFC  outlet  on  Bogyoke  Aung  San  Road,  between  Sakura  Hotel  and  Wazira  cinema,  near  Ruby  Mart,  St.  Mart’s Cathedral, Immanuel Baptist Church, Thakhin Mya Park in Ahlone Township, and Sawbwar  Gyi  Kone  Park  in  Insein Township. 


The  three-day  event  will  be inaugurated at 6 p.m. on 23 December at the Holy Trinity Cathedral performance stage at the corner of the Bogyoke Aung  San  Road  and  Shwedagon  Pagoda  Road,  and  the  closing ceremony will be held on  25  December  night  at  St.  Mary’s Cathedral. 


Festive lights will also be lit  along  the  Bogyoke  Road  and  other  places  of  celebration,  and  free  food  counters  will be arranged for visitors. Performers  will  sing  Christ-mas  hymns  with  bands  and  give  dance  performances.  Well-known  singers  will  also  perform at the festival from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for three days, — Thi Thi Min (Translated by La Wonn)
