YANGON United and Myawady FC got sweet victories in the Week 3 of the Myanmar National League 2022. Myawady beat GFA FC 4-2 on 13 July. In the opening match of the season, Myawady lost to Yangon United, but they won against ISPE and GFA.
GFA tried to win their first match but conceded three goals in the first half. Both teams played with all their core players to win, and the Myawady team scored consecutive goals in the first half and managed to control the game. Thet Wai Moe scored the first goal for the Myawady team in the 5th minute and Kaung Si Thu scored the second goal in the 31st minute.
Near the end of the first half, the Myawady team had to take a penalty kick and goalkeeper Tun Nanda Oo made no mistake. The Myawady team was led by three goals at the end of the first half.
In the second half, the GFA team increased their attacking power to get revenge. In the 78th minute, the m a t c h was intense as Than Toe Aung scored the equalizer from the penalty spot.
The GFA team tried to score an equalizing goal, but the fourth winning goal that ensured the victory of the Myawady team was scored by Ye Moe Yan in the 85th minute.
In the match held on 14 July, the Yangon team won against the Rakhine team by one goal. The Yangon team won three games in a row, but they had to play hard due to the struggle of the Rakhine team, and Yangon star player David Htan’s late goal changed the team’s result.
Rakhine team has changed coach before this match due to two consecutive defeats and it was the first match under new head coach U Kyaw Lwin. Both teams came out with a full set of strong players. Yangon started to attack from the beginning of the match but the Rakhine team systematically prepared their defence. Rakhine managed to control Yangon’s attack for more than 80 minutes but lost in the 87th minute with an icebreaker scored by David Htan over an assist of Kyaw Min Oo.
