The Ministry of Informa­tion yesterday held a coordination meeting on the Youth and Literary Arts Festival to be observed in Nay Pyi Taw from 20 to 22 December aiming at empowering the five kinds of strength for youths and their abilities in commemora­tion of the 76th anniversary of Independence Day.

 

Speaking at the meeting, Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn said that the festival will be held for the students, employees and their families to make study tours to the event for fun and also plans are underway to add education and entertainment programmes.

 

The Prime Minister cur­rently focuses on the youths’ sector and there should be proper booths for the universi­ty students this year under the guidance of the Prime Minister. It also needs to provide enter­tainment programmes and oth­er interesting events.

 

The festival is slated to take place for three days in which 13 ministries will participate, and it will also feature the selling of ethnic traditional foods.

 

Then, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan said that the ministry is making collaborative efforts to successfully hold the Youth and Literary Arts Festival.

 

Permanent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung reported on the objectives of the festival, ongoing work plans of working committees and subcommittees and preparation work for the festival.

 

After hearing the reports of the attendees, Deputy Min­ister for Information U Ye Tint coordinated the requirements. Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn them con­cluded the meeting.

 

The Youth and Literary Arts Festival aims at motivating the students to read books and publications, know the advan­tages of literature, uplift patri­otic spirit, prestige and integrity through literature and fine arts, adore the independence of the nation with the knowledge of independence struggle and suf­ferings in the colonial era, enjoy peace, stability and beautifying scenes of the nation with de­velopment activities as well as panoramic rural scenes to have the soul for adoring the relevant regions and states, and easily know endeavours of relevant ministries through the displays of booths at the event. — MNA/ KTZH
