Ayeyarwady Bank and Max Myanmar Group donated K1.5 billion yesterday for the Intensive Care Unit and the High Dependency Unit which will be operated soon at the Ayeyarwady Centre for COVID-19 patients.
Chief Minister of Yangon Region government U Phyo Min Thein visited the new 75-bedded healthcare facilities, located in the compound of Thuwunna Football Stadium in Yangon, on 7 October evening and received cash donation.
The Ministry of Health and Sports is providing possible assistance for the facilities, and the donation of K1 billion from the Ayeyarwady Bank and K500 million from the Max Myanmar Group will be used for medical equipment, medical supplies and oxygen supply machines.
The ICU/HDU facilities were established by the close supervision of Professor Dr Zaw Wai Soe, and over 150 volunteers including doctors and nurses will provide medical treatments to the serious COVID-19 cases.
Construction of the 50-bedded HDU is also underway as a second phase to be able to expand the capacity up to 125-bedded facility.
The Ayeyarwady Centre was set up by the Ayeyarwady Foundation of the Max Myanmar Group of Companies which is also running the Ayeyarwady Bank and the Max Myanmar Group.— Ye Yint Shine
