The 3rd China-ASEAN Health Cooperation Forum was held in Nanning city of Guangxi region, China, yesterday.

 

Dr Thet Khaing Win, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Health and Sports, joined the meeting via videoconferencing from his office in Nay Pyi Taw. The forum was also attended by Chinese senior health officials and the health ministers from ASEAN countries.

 

At the meeting, Dr Thet Khaing Win discussed cooperation between ASEAN member countries and China, exchange of technologies and experiences, fight against COVID-19 and the crucial role of health security.

 

He also expressed thanks to China for its donations to ASEAN countries and briefed on the works of COVID-19 national committee led by State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

 

Speeches were delivered by Health Department Secretary Dr Francisco Duque III from the Philippines, Health Minister Mr Gan Kim Yong from Singapore, Dr Yu Xuejun, Vice Minister from the National Health Commission of China, Secretary-General of the ASEAN Mr Lim Jock Hoi and Director Dr Takeshi Kasai from WHO’s West Pacific Region.

 

The two-day forum was held to discuss the topics of the Disease Prevention and Control, the Dentistry, the Traditional Medicine, the Hospital Management Cooperation, the Health Emergency Cooperation and the Food Safety and Nutrition Health.—MNA
