The ASEAN Regional Mine Action Centre (ARMAC) held the Regional Webinar on Protecting ASEAN Communities by Implementing Explosive Ordnance Risk Education during COVID-19 yesterday morning in Cambodia.

 

The Ambassador of United States to Cambodia Mr Patrick Murphy, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Mr Vu Quang Minh, in his capacity as the Chair of the Steering Committee of ARMAC, officials from the mine clearance centres of Cambodia, Laos, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam, the Child Protection Specialist from the UNICEF and the Director-General for the Resettlement Department of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement from Myanmar attended the webinar and exchanged opinions on how mine risk education activities are being carried out during COVID-19.

 

The ARMAC was established in 2012 by the ASEAN Leaders at the 21st ASEAN Summit with the representatives from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam which are at risk of landmines and explosive devices to conduct consultations and exchange opinions on mine risk education.—MNA
