U Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for International Cooperation of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar received Mr Kim Gunn at 2:00 pm on 25 November 2020 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw.

 

During the meeting, Deputy Minister congratulated on the successful completion of Myanmar’s general elections, and stated that his visit is to further enhance the existing relations and cooperation between the two countries.

 

The Union Minister expressed his appreciation for the congratulatory messages extended by the President of the Republic of Korea to the President and the State Counsellor of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on the recent general elections in Myanmar and, for the assistance provided by the Government of Korea both bilaterally and under ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Framework in addressing the challenges posed by second wave of COVID-19 pandemic in Myanmar. The Union Minister also welcomed the Republic of Korea’s initiatives in strengthening cooperation with ASEAN countries including Myanmar in line with the New Southern Policy Plus.

 

Both sides cordially exchanged views on the successful implementation of Myanmar- Korea Friendship Bridge (Dala) project and Myanmar- Korea Industrial Complex project(KMIC), the launching of Myanmar Development Institute-MDI and Technical Vocational Education and Training Teacher Training Institute of Myanmar TTTI (Yangon) to be carried out with the assistance from the Republic of Korea, facilitation of the travel of more Korean technicians to Myanmar to maintain the momentum of the implementation of bilateral projects between Myanmar and Korea.—MNA
