An event to mark 70th anniversary of China-Myanmar diplomatic ties and Myanmar-China Trade and Economic Forum 2020 are in progress at the Nanning International Convention & Exhibition Centre, Nanning in the People’s Republic of China from 27 to 30 November.

Union Minister for Commerce Dr Than Myint sent a video message to the event.
In his video message, the Union Minister talked about the 70th anniversary of Myanmar-China diplomatic ties which began in 1950, the increasingly friendly relations, mutual understanding and mutual respect between the two countries.
He expressed thanks to the People’s Republic of China for providing assistance in fighting against COVID-19 pandemic.
The 70th anniversary of China-Myanmar diplomatic ties also coincided with 10th year of the establishment of ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (ACFTA) and the first year of China-ASEAN digital economy cooperation.
The motto of this year’s event is “Co-creation and sharing of golden opportunities relating to economy in the bilateral cooperation between Myanmar and China on trade and economic sectors”, and discussions will be made for cooperation on trade, economic and investment, and smoothing China-Myanmar trade routes.
He also called for cooperation from China in providing technical assistance for checking qualities of Myanmar products and development of electronics trading sectors.
Assistant Minister of Commerce of PRC Mr Li Chenggang, Vice-Chairman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Mr Zhou Hongbo and Ambassador of Myanmar to China U Myo Thant Pe also made speeches at the event.
Myanmar Commercial Attaché in Nanning presented the topic “Myanmar Investment Environment and Opportunities”, and two Chinese companies made presentations on investments and achievements in trading in Myanmar.—MNA (Translated by Kyaw Zin Tun)
