Thaton, December 15

Myoma and Thuwanna markets in Thaton Township, Mon State, which were temporarily closed to prevent the spread of Covid-19, were reopened in the morning of December 15 in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports, according to the market committee.

“At the request of the grocers, we submitted it to the local government through MPs, and now it is allowed to reopen. The vendors will be allowed to sell their commodities when the virus infection is brought under control,” said U Aung Kyaw Myint, Chairman of the market committee.

The sellers and buyers must wear masks and will be checked as to whether they abide by the guidance issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports, he added. If the sellers and buyers violate the rules, they will be taken action.

The two markets were temporarily closed after some vendors were confirmed to be infected with the virus last November. A temporary bazaar was set up in an old airport so that the vendors sell their products.
