Shanywathit, 24 December

A local man from Ward-2 in Shanywathit town in Kayin State was reportedly injured by a landmine explosion.

The victim, identified as U Saw Tawar was wounded after he stepped on a landmine while going to a creek for fishing on December 19. The victim is said to be not in critical condition and is being treated at a public hospital.

Town Administrator U Naing Win Aung and local authorities handed over 50,000 kyats and items provided by the Department of Disaster Management to family members of the victim on December 24.
