A meeting between the State Peace Talks Team and the peace delegation from the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) was held yester­day morning at the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Centre in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

First, SAC Member Un­ion Minister SPTT Leader Lt- Gen Yar Pyae warmly greeted General Yawd Serk, Chairman of the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) and del­egation. Then, the two sides discussed issues according to agreed agendas in a frank and open manner.

 

The meeting was attended by State Administration Coun­cil Member Union Minister at the Government Office Chair­man of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee-NSPNC Peace Talks Team Leader Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and members — SAC Member Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun, NSPNC Secretary Lt-Gen Min Naung and member Lt- Gen Win Bo Shein, RCSS Chair General Yawd Serk, RCSS’s central executive committee members Sao Saung Han, Sao Um Khe and representatives.

 

Both sides discussed the pending issues from the sec­ond meeting to be discussed, amending the basic articles of the Constitution (2008) and the proposals that both parties want to discuss. The first-day meeting was adjourned and the talks will continue on 25 January.—MNA/TS
