SAC Member U Maung Ko, Union Information Minister U Maung Maung Ohn and Manda­lay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung visited Maha Muni Buddha Image in Mandalay and viewed round the upgrading work of the Pitakat Museum yesterday and met rectors, pro-rectors from universities and degree colleges, education officers, headmasters and headmistresses of high and middle schools from regions, districts and townships.

 

During the meeting, SAC Member U Maung Ko said that the Union Government has ap­pointed him and Union Minister for Information as members of the Education, Health and Hu­man Resources Development Committee.

 

Two years ago, the Manda­lay Region government, depart­mental personnel and people made collaborative efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region to a certain level and more enrolment to vocational schools is needed without fail, he stressed.

 

Next, Union Information Minister U Maung Maung Ohn and Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung gave greeting remarks urging them to promote the level of higher education.

 

Afterwards, repre­sentative students from univer­sities received daily diaries and handbags presented by the SAC member, the Union minister and the Mandalay Region chief min­ister.

 

After the meeting, SAC Member U Maung Ko and party cordially greeted attendees and enjoyed tea and refreshment.— MNA/TS
