Over 1,000 pilgrims from various parts of Myanmar vis­it Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda daily during Pagoda Festival in Sagu township in Minbu district of Magway region, and there are more pilgrims on public holidays, according to the Shwesettaw Pagoda Board of Trustees.

 

The Pagoda Festi­val was opened on 25 January 2023.

 

The festival is crowded with pilgrims making dona­tions, taking baths and relax­ing in Mann creek and taking memorable photos during the Shwesettaw Pagoda Festival.

 

“This year, the number of visitors to the Mann Shweset­taw Pagoda Festival is over 1,000 a day. At weekends and on public holidays, there are about 4,000 pilgrims and near­ly 700 cars. The festival peri­od is from the 5th Waxing of Tabodwe up to the first day of the Myanmar New Year. There are about 600 guest rooms and over 400 shops,” said U Thein Hlaing, vice-chairman of the Shwesettaw Pagoda Board of Trustees.

 

Similarly, visitors flock to the Mann creek elephant camp during Shwesettaw Pagoda Festival and it is more crowded on public holidays, according to assistant manager of elephant camp U Htet Naing Aung. — Maung Maung (Minbu)/MKKS
