The second day of the 51st Myan­mar Health Research Congress organized by the Ministry of Health was held at the Depart­ment of Medical Research in Yangon yesterday.

 

In the morning session, a total of 22 papers were read out.

 

During the event, Direc­tor-General Dr Myat Wunna Soe of the Department of Medical Ser­vices, Director-General of Med­ical Research Department Dr Zaw Than Tun, Director-General of Traditional Medicine Dr Su Su Dwe, Rector of the University of Medicine 1 Prof Dr Kyaw Shwe, Rector of the University of Medi­cine 2 Prof Dr Aye Aye Khin, Rec­tor of University of Public Health Prof Dr Hla Hla Win and Prof/De­partment Head of University of Medicine 1 Prof Dr San San Htay chaired the morning session and relevant experts, researchers and resource persons attended it.

 

In the afternoon, Myan­mar-Korea Joint Symposium 2023: Clinical Significance of Molecular Techniques: A Focus on TB and Hepatitis B was held.

 

Deputy Director-General of Medical Research Dr Hlaing Myat Thu and Prof Jae Hun Cheong of Korean Pusan Nation­al University presided over the afternoon session and Chairman of the Board of International Tu­berculosis Research Center of Korea Dr Sun Dae Song made a greeting speech.

 

Then, Section Head Dr Jeong Seok Lee of the Korean International Tuberculosis Re­search Centre, Specialist (Micro­biology) Dr Wint Wint Nyunt, Prof Jae Hun Cheong of the Pusan National University and Director Dr Wah Wah Aung of the Medical Research Department discussed the topics related to Pyrazina­mide resistance, MDR-TB, Hep­atitis B virus and liver cancer among others.
