Medical workers from the Township Department of Public Health under Ministry of Health began mass vaccination campaign to prevent women from cervical cancer from August 22 this year at the designated vaccination sites in Lewe Township, the Naypyitaw Union Territory.
Medical workers led by Dr. Nanda Kyaw from the Township Department of Public Health vaccinated girls between nine and ten years old with human papillomavirus vaccine in collaboration with teachers from Basic Education Schools.
During the vaccination campaign, healthcare workers monitored the body temperatures and blood pressures of the students before administering the vaccine to them and watched them for minutes after giving the vaccine.
Out of 7642 students, 4593 have been vaccinated against cervical cancer since August 22 at 54 vaccination sites in the Township.—Wei Kyi(IPRD)
