According to the Ministry of Immigration and Population, arrangements are being made to allow Myanmar and Chinese citizens to travel with passports through the Myanmar-China border.

Currently, Myanmar citizens are travelling with Border Pass-BP and Temporary Border Pass-TBP, so preparations are being made to allow citizens from Myanmar and China to enter and exit with passports in the near future.

The citizens of Myanmar and China will be able to enter and leave with passports, so that they should pay special attention to security and coordinate with each other, Union Minister U Myint Kyaing said during a tour of the Kyel Gaung immigration checkpoint on the Chinese side.

In addition to this, the Union Minister met officials in Ruili and discussed the setting up of border immigration checkpoints between the two countries and the ability to meet the needs of the border checkpoints for the convenience of border inspection operations.

The two sides also focused on the requirements to facilitate the entry and exit of truck drivers and the requirements to facilitate the entry and exit of travellers with passport and to ensure safety. — ASH/KZL
