The opening ceremony of the 2023 State and Region Lethwei Tournament was held yester­day afternoon at Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw, attended by members of the State Administration Council.

At the ceremony, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan who is also Chairman of the My­anmar Olympic Committee gave a speech and opened the competition by encouraging the new generation of fighters to strengthen Myanmar’s sports.

The tourney will run till 11 October, featuring four men’s events for 51, 54, 60 and 67- kilo­gramme categories and one fe­male event for 48 Kilogramme. — MNA/KZL
