AMONG vacationers, the number of people who go on a trip to Kyaiktiyo Pagoda has mounted, according to highway bus ticket counters.

Highway buses have been occupied by vacationers who go to different destinations such as Taunggyi, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw, in both local and outbound journeys.

“As far as we see, people go on vacation to different destinations. All highway buses heading to Taunggyi, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw are packed with passengers. Not only outward journey but the return journey is also packed. Among destinations, Kyaiktiyo has the largest visitor arrival, even mountaineering buses are unavailable now,” said an official from a highway bus ticket counter.

Among Yangon’s visitors who booked tickets in advance, the destination of the majority is Mandalay.

“Mandalay is their major destination followed by Taunggyi. People go on trips the most in December,” he added.
