UNION Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin held talks with Ambassador Ms Ma Jia of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar yesterday at the guest hall of the Union Minis­ter’s office in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

During the meeting, they discussed various topics includ­ing opportunities for increased investment in the energy sector between Myanmar and China. They highlighted the rising de­mand for natural gas in both countries and the potential for swiftly collaborating to con­struct Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminals in Myanmar, enabling natural gas extraction and shared usage.

 

They exchanged views on exploring the feasibility of ful­ly utilizing the Myanmar-Chi­na crude oil and natural gas pipelines, implementing joint projects for constructing a new oil refinery using crude oil from the pipeline, and promoting Myanmar’s promising oil and natural gas projects.

 

They also focused collab­oration on pipeline construc­tion and upgrades, investments in building and enhancing oil refineries and fertilizer plants and the possibilities for broad­er government-to-government cooperation between Myanmar and China. — MNA/KZL
