STATE Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Defence General Maung Maung Aye, who is currently in Lahe town­ship, paid homage to Sayadaw Baddanta Sumana of Lahe Theravada Buddhist Mission­ary (Central) Monastery, on 16 January. He donated alms rice and offerings to the Sayadaw. He also visited the Lahe Baptist Convention, met officials and presented foodstuffs to them.

 

On arrival at the Naga Cul­tural Museum, the General met departmental staff and mem­bers of the Naga Traditional Literature and Culture Associ­ations and discussed regional development measures.

 

Naga Self-Administered Zone Administration Body Chairman U Tun Tun Win first reported on administration, economy, social and project-re­lated matters, and the Naga Tra­ditional Literature and Culture Committees raised the need to develop the region.

 

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi and Deputy Minister for Agricul­ture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Tin Htut coordinated the discussion.

 

The Deputy Prime Minister then made proper instructions and gave presents to the rele­vant regional and township-level officials.

 

At noon, General Maung Maung Aye and the party met district and township-level de­partmental officials at the meet­ing hall of the district general administration department in Khamti township.

 

The General heard the reports regarding the admin­istration, health, education, economy, social and regional affairs presented by the Khamti administrator, Naga Traditional Literature and Culture Com­mittee and Shan Literature and Culture Committee, and made proper instructions. He also gave gifts to district and township-level departmental officials.

General Maung Maung Aye, accompanied by Lt-Gen Soe Tint Naing from the office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), visited the local mili­tary station and met officers, other ranks and families. He offered foodstuffs to them. The General also cordially greeted them. — MNA/KTZH
