THE 53rd Myanmar Health Re­search Congress opening cere­mony was held at the Depart­ment of Medical Research, No 5, Ziwaka Road, Dagon Township in Yangon Region yesterday.

 

First, SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing delivered a speech via video message. (The speech of the Senior General is sepa­rately reported).

 

Then, Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win said the congress features the basic research, applied research, social sciences, health system research papers of Professors from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Defence, local and foreign researchers, and such research papers will bring val­uable solutions for health prob­lems of the public today.

 

Moreover, the local and for­eign experts will discuss various topics: “Myanmar-Korea Joint Symposium (2025)”, “Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle and Address­ing Health Risk Behaviours”, Virological and Immunological Highlights of Dengue, Chikun­gunya and Zika Virus Infections in Myanmar”, and “Artificial Intelligence: Shaping the Next Generation of Health Profes­sionals”.

 

Furthermore, the lecture and practical sessions on whole genome sequencing were con­ducted during the pre-confer­ence activity of Myanmar and Korean researchers. Therefore, Myanmar experts can promote their technological skills in their respective fields.

 

He then urged the re­searchers to submit their pa­pers to local and international research journals in addition to the congress. He pledged that the ministry would support all requirements.

 

After the opening ceremo­ny, the Union minister and party observed the research poster exhibition.

 

The paper award selecting subcommittee will present the best paper awards, including Basic Research, Applied Re­search, Health Systems Re­search, best poster and young researchers. — MNA/KTZH
