THE Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Energy have announced their col­laboration to introduce a petroleum geology course at Yenangyoung University in Magway Region. The pro­gramme will commence in the 2025-2026 academic year, according to the Ministry of Energy.

 

 

The petroleum geology programme will be offered as a four-year bachelor’s degree. Stakeholders will contribute to enhancing the skills of fu­ture geologists, petroleum engineers, and mechanical and chemical engineers. The programme also aims to pro­vide scholarships for students based on their fields of study.

 

Additionally, graduates of energy-related disciplines will have opportunities to join the Ministry of Energy, with plans to facilitate job placements for those interested.

 

The Ministry of Energy emphasized the energy sec­tor’s critical role in national economic development and highlighted its ongoing efforts to innovate under the motto “2025, The Year of Myanmar Energy”.

 

Yenangyoung University, established as a regional col­lege in 1977, currently offers five arts and six science-re­lated disciplines. The petro­leum geology course will be the first specialized discipline introduced at the university. — ASH/KNN
