THE opening ceremony of the 119th anniversary of the Yangon Zoo was held on the morning of 25 January at the Yangon Zoological Gardens in Mingala Taungnyunt Township, Yangon Region.

 

The ceremony was attended by Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi, Yangon Region Minister for Natu­ral Resources U Zaw Win, Yangon Region Social Affairs Minister U Htay Aung, Yangon Region Minis­ter for Ethnic Affairs U Saw Jacob Htoo, departmental officials and invitees. The Union minister first cut the ribbon to open the 119th anniversary of the Yangon Zoo and delivered a speech that the Yangon Zoo has now celebrat­ed its 119th anniversary and it is a place of pride and a place to preserve the natural ecosystem and wild animals. He urged all to continue to maintain it at interna­tional standards and maintain it for many years to come.

 

He inspected the booths of the exhibits in the Zoo, the stalls and the beautification measures.

 

In the afternoon, the Union minister visited the Shwe Than­tha Hein Wood Finishing Facto­ry in Dagon Seikkan Industrial Zone, Dagon Myothit (Seikkan) Township and the Glorious Fam­ily Rattan Finishing Factory in South Dagon Industrial Zone-II of Dagon Myothit (South) Town­ship to inspect the processes of production from raw materials to produce finished products. — MNA/MKKS
