ACTOR Nay Toe, who recently won the Best Actor Award at the 2024 Myanmar Film Academy Awards, donated K20 million to members of the film industry on 12 February at Story Book Studio in Dagon Myothit (North) Township, Yangon Region. The donation was a gesture of goodwill following his award win.
The donation comprised K10 million for Ko Lu Chaw’s group, which includes supporting actors (often playing villainous roles), and K10 million for the film crew.
“This donation is a kind of Academy Award-related charity,” said Nay Toe. “This year, we particularly wanted to support Ko Lu Chaw’s group and the film crew. It’s a way of giving back to the people in the industry who helped me receive this award. I decided to donate to support supporting actors who are unwell, and our fellow industry members who are no longer able to work. It’s about looking after and caring for our colleagues who can no longer work, while we are still able to”.
Furthermore, Nay Toe also won the Best Actor award for the film “Hnaung” at the 2024 Myanmar Film Academy Awards. He has now won four Academy Awards. — ASH/MKKS
