Natmauk, 17 February

In Natmauk Township, located in Magway Region, 1,850 acres of chickpeas have already been planted during this year’s winter cropping season. Local farmers are currently working hard to boost crop yields by applying necessary agricultural inputs and managing pests and diseases, according to the Natmauk Township Agriculture Department.

Local farmers began planting in October 2024 with the goal of reaching 1,369 acres of chickpeas. As of now, they have exceeded that target, with a total of 1,850 acres planted. Officials from the Township Agriculture Department are providing support and assistance in managing pest control and disease prevention.

"If crop yields can be increased, it will not only ensure sufficient food for the region but also allow for the surplus to be sold, thereby increasing the income of local farmers. Therefore, efforts should be made to expand crop cultivation in all areas," said an official from the Township Agriculture Department.— Hla Win (IPRD)
