AS part of the April Thingyan Myanmar New Year holiday, Trekking in Myanmar Agency will be offering an 8-day Hponkanrazi icy mountain climbing package as a special tour.

In the past few days, tourists from Thailand and Russia have been interested in ice-capped mountains and have visited PutaO, according to Ko Moe Min Thein (PutaO), who is organizing the tour.

Trekking In Myanmar planned this special tour for those who want to visit ice-capped Mount Hponkanrazi in PutaO, Kachin State, during the upcoming April Thingyan. The tour will take 8 nights and 9 days if a traveller comes by Yangon-Mandalay-Myitkyina flight, and the round trip from PutaO to Mount Hponkanrazi will take 7 nights and 8 days.

The tour will start on 11 April. Passengers will arrive in PutaO on 10 April and return to PutaO on 17 April.

This is a regular trip designed for ordinary mountaineering enthusiasts. Those who want to join the trip need to notify about a month before and pay 30 per cent in advance. Passengers should bring a warm raincoat, a thick sweater, a thin long-sleeved shirt, thick gloves, thick socks, ear-mufflers, a warm hat, good hiking boots or military boots, personal water bottles, a headlamp, a flashlight, and miscellaneous items such as lotions and medicines. — MT/ZN
