UNION Minister for En­ergy U Ko Ko Lwin met Russian Deputy Minister of Energy Mr Pavel So­rokin and Mr Alesksand­er Boldyrev, Head of the International Relations De­partment of the Russian state-owned oil and gas company Zarubezhneft, during the Rus­sian visit of the State Adminis­tration Council Chairman and Prime Minis­ter. The meet­ing took place at 9:30 am on 5 March at the Radisson Col­lection Hotel in Moscow.

 

The discussions cov­ered cooperation on sev­eral key energy projects, including investment in the construction of a liq­uefied natural gas (LNG) terminal near the Dawei Deep-Sea Port for do­mestic use and export, as well as the development of natural gas pipelines connected to the termi­nal. They also explored in­vestment in building an oil refinery within the Dawei Special Economic Zone, securing Myanmar’s fuel supply at a friendly price, and accessing advanced technology for oil and nat­ural gas exploration and production. The meeting reviewed the potential for Russian companies to in­vest in offshore oil and gas exploration. — MNA/KZL
