Ngwesaung, 17 March

Ngwesaung Town, located in Pathein District, Ayeyarwady Region, welcomed a total of 9,362 domestic and international visitors during the public holidays from March 12 to 16.

Between March 12 and 16, 2025, a total of 9,362 tourists visited Ngwe Saung Beach, with 9,019 being domestic tourists and 343 foreign visitors. During the holidays, tourists explored the area’s famous attractions, including nearby islands and elephant camps, by riding speedboats and banana boats.

Town Administrator U Thein Zaw noted that Ngwesaung Beach has become increasingly popular due to several factors: students who completed their exams (except for those taking the matriculation exam), the extended 5-day holiday, and tourists returning from the Maw Tin Son Pagoda Festival. The arrival of visitors has provided a much-needed lift to the local beach tourism industry.

U Thein Zaw also expressed hope for even larger crowds during the upcoming Thingyan Festival holidays, which span 10 days. He was pleased to see that some local hotels are already fully booked.— Kyaw Lin Oo (IPRD)
