STAFF members from the Min­istry of Foreign Affairs and My­anmar embassies, consulates-general and representative offices abroad, along with their families donated gold plates to the Shwedagon Pagoda. The do­nation includes two gold plates weighing six ticals each and thirteen gold coatings weighing one ticals each, with a total cash donation of K6.25 million.

 

The ceremony took place at 8 am yesterday near the south­ern archway of the Shwedagon Pagoda. During the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Un­ion Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe handed over the gold plates worth K6.25 million to the Pagoda Board of Trustees, which gave honourary certifi­cates back to the Deputy Prime Minister.

 

Afterwards, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister U Than Swe together with the do­nors, participated in the offering ceremony, fitting the gold plates to the Shwedagon Pagoda. — MNA/KZL
