BETEL leaf price has fallen this month, however it is anticipated that it will increase again in April.
Despite the betel leaf price’s fall, the areca nut price has been high. According to traders in Kyaukse Township, the betel leaf trade was pretty fine in last year but a decrease has been seen this year.
“It’s not a slight but huge decline in price at present. But the price will definitely climb up again in April. Our Kyaukse’s betel leaves are used nationwide,” said a trader from Kyaukse.
In January, the trade of Kyaukse’s betel leaves, which are famous for being durable, was fine and during the month, orders from Tachilek, Taungdwingyi, Magway and Taunggyi mounted and among these townships, Taungdwingyi’s orders were the biggest. — Thit Taw/ZS
