Taungdwingyi, 24 March
Taungdwingyi Township, located in Magway Region, has been working to enhance the capacity for summer paddy planting since February 15, utilizing the Yanpe and Ngamin irrigation systems. As of March 24, over 900 acres of summer paddy have been successfully planted. Short-term, high-yielding rice varieties such as Sapaothar and Aungnaingtoe have been used, with planting methods including rice planting machines, seeding equipment, and various cultivation techniques, according to the Township Agriculture Department.
In Taungdwingyi Township, a Township Agriculture Supervisory Committee (Taskforce) has been established to conduct agricultural training courses aimed at achieving the target yield for summer paddy. The committee is organizing field demonstrations on summer paddy planting using low-cost, hand-pulled rice planting machines, as well as natural and chemical fertilizers. They are also closely monitoring the supply of agricultural inputs and ensuring that the summer paddy planting areas have an adequate water supply.—Naung Naung (Vithano Myey)
