Quake-affected areas in Myanmar need food and personal hygienic materials for the people.

 

Chairman of the State Adminis­tration Council Prime Minis­ter Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Malaysian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Haji Hasan, the representative of the ASEAN Chair for Myanmar, and Minister of Foreign Af­fairs of Thailand Mr Maris Sangiam­pongsa at Tatmadaw Guesthouse in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.

 

The meeting was also attended by SAC Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, Union Ministers U Than Swe and Dr Soe Win and officials. The Malaysian Minister of Foreign Affairs Represent­ative of the ASEAN Chair for Myanmar and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand were accompanied by their relevant delegation members, the Thai Ambassador to Myanmar and officials.

 

At the meeting, they cordially talked about initiatives of ASEAN member states in sending rescue teams and rescue and relief supplies to Myanmar which suffered severe loss and damage in the incident of a powerful earthquake, efforts of foreign rescue teams togeth­er with Myanmar’s rescue teams and volunteers in carrying out rescue oper­ations, plans of ASEAN member states to arrange mobile hospitals which can perform minor surgical operations on the affected people in the quake-affect­ed areas, needs of foods and personal hygienic materials of the people in the affected areas and requirements of mod­ern machinery to be used in clearing debris. — MNA/TTA
