THE 41-member Indonesian emergency medical team led by Police Brig-Gen (Retired) Ary Laksmana Widjaja depart­ed from Nay Pyi Taw yester­day morning on two separate flights back to Indonesia. Offi­cials from the National Disas­ter Management Committee, Minister-Counseller of Indone­sian Embassy to Myanmar Mr Harlianto and Indonesian De­fence Attaché Col (Mar) Budi Chayono saw them off at Nay Pyi Taw Airport.

 

The team comprised gen­eral practitioners, surgeons, orthopaedic specialists, anaes­thetists, paediatricians, emer­gency specialists, pharmacists, nurses, midwives, administra­tive officers and logistics of­ficers. They were based at the 50-bed hospital in Ottarathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Coun­cil Area, where they provided medical checkups, treatment, and surgeries to 4,874 earth­quake-affected individuals from 7 to 21 April. — MNA/KZL
