THE 41-member Indonesian emergency medical team led by Police Brig-Gen (Retired) Ary Laksmana Widjaja departed from Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning on two separate flights back to Indonesia. Officials from the National Disaster Management Committee, Minister-Counseller of Indonesian Embassy to Myanmar Mr Harlianto and Indonesian Defence Attaché Col (Mar) Budi Chayono saw them off at Nay Pyi Taw Airport.
The team comprised general practitioners, surgeons, orthopaedic specialists, anaesthetists, paediatricians, emergency specialists, pharmacists, nurses, midwives, administrative officers and logistics officers. They were based at the 50-bed hospital in Ottarathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, where they provided medical checkups, treatment, and surgeries to 4,874 earthquake-affected individuals from 7 to 21 April. — MNA/KZL
