The cultural heritage preservation team from China has con­ducted inspection over ancient buildings damaged by the Mandalay earthquake in Man­dalay Region, according to the Chinese Embassy to Myanmar.

 

The Chinese team inspect­ed and evaluated quake-affected ancient buildings in Mandalay and Sagaing regions from 10 to 20 June.

 

Officials from the Chinese team inspected renowned an­cient buildings at the Mandalay Royal Palace, Mahamuni Buddha Image, ancient Amarapura city and ancient Inwa city to evaluate damage to these buildings. They also held discussions related to these buildings with Myanmar officials over preservation of My­anmar cultural heritage.

 

At the discussions, both sides exchanged views on emer­gency renovation of damaged heritages, repair processes and long-term plans.

 

The cultural heritage pres­ervation team from China com­prises experts from National Cul­tural Heritage Administration, Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Her­itage Administration, Chinese Academy of Cultural Heritage, Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics Protection and Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Engineering Company.

 

Those experts from the team have experienced the renovation process of ancient buildings in­cluding Thatbyinnyu Pagoda in Bagan. — ASH/TTA
