BATCH 3 of the On-the-Job Training (OJT) for carpenters specializing in the restoration and maintenance of traditional Inlay stilt houses will commence in the last week of April, according to the Myanmar Construction Entrepreneurs Federation (MCEF).
OJT Batch 1 started on 19 February in ThaleU village, Nyaungshwe Township, and concluded on 20 March. OJT Batch 2 was opened on 3 March and successfully concluded on 1 April in Hatpone village.
The training covers both theoretical and practical aspects of constructing disaster-resilient wooden houses. Key subjects include disaster-resistant wooden construction techniques, strengthening wooden structures in the Inlay region using bracing techniques, and systematic repair and restoration methods.
Each batch accommodates 20 trainees, with a total of 60 participants to be trained. The upcoming Batch 3, scheduled for the last week of April, will last one month.
Furthermore, the Myanmar Construction Entrepreneurs Federation is currently conducting Batch 2 of an On-the-Job Training (OJT) course for masonry in Mandalay. This programme also trains 20 participants per session, with a long-term target of reaching 100 trainees. — MT/ZN
