A demonstration of paddy plant­ing on a 100-acre farm using a drum seeder was conducted by U Kyaw Win Naing, a farmer from Bayak Village, Thanlyin Township, Thanlyin District. A ceremony was also held at a tem­porary pavilion on the farmland, during which natural fertilizers and vegetable seeds supplied by the Department of Agricul­ture were distributed to farmers participating in the export zone programme.

 

Under the programme, nat­ural fertilizers and vegetable seeds from the Department of Agriculture were presented to farmers by Yangon Region Min­ister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Htoo Maung, Yangon Region Hluttaw Repre­sentative U Yan Myo Aung, mem­bers of the Region Agriculture Supervisory Team, Chairman of the Thanlyin District Admin­istration and Management Com­mittee U Zin Min Ko, and officials from rice-exporting companies.

 

Afterwards, the regional minister and accompanying of­ficials observed demonstrations of a 100-acre model paddy field planted using a drum seeder, a 10-row seeder displayed by the Department of Agricultur­al Mechanization, biochar pro­duced from agricultural waste, fertilizers, pesticides and seeds exhibited by the Department of Agriculture, and solar-powered water pumps showcased by the Department of Water Resources. — Bala/MKKS
