MYANMAR’S national boxing athletes and officials departed from Yangon International Airport yesterday evening to compete in the Benkei Fight boxing event in Osaka, Japan.
The Myanmar Boxing Commission (MBC) was established to develop professional Western boxing in Myanmar and to enable Myanmar fighters to officially compete in international professional events. The commission regulates domestic professional boxing matches in accordance with international rules, issues licences to fighters and referees, and maintains official affiliations with top world-recognized boxing sanctioning bodies, including the WBC (World Boxing Council), WBA (World Boxing Association), and Asian boxing federations.
Thanks to the MBC’s official network, Myanmar boxers have secured contracts to compete in international professional events like Japan’s Benkei Fight. Winning these matches will allow them to enter the World Rankings, serving as a vital bridge for raising the Myanmar flag on the global boxing stage. — TWA/KZL
