MYANMAR detained five Chinese nationals, one Kenyan and one Indo­nesian, totalling seven individuals, involved in telecom fraud and oth­er criminal activities in Kayin State.

 

The relevant offi­cials conducted personal data collection processes to deport these undoc­umented foreigners as quickly as possible.

 

Between 30 January 2025 and 17 June 2026, a total of 14,714 illegal immigrants were identi­fied and detained in My­anmar. Of this number, 13,550 individuals have already been deported through Thailand to their respective countries.

 

Among the remain­ing 1,164 individuals to be deported, there are 662 who were charged under the Myanmar Im­migration (Emergency) Provisions Act section 3 (1)/13(1) and the Nar­cotic Drugs and Psycho­tropic Substances Law, and 502 individuals are currently under deten­tion while awaiting re­patriation.
