WRITER Min Khaik Soe San passed away in San Francisco, the United States at 8:07 pm local time on 19 June 2026, ac­cording to reports.

 

Born in Yangon in 1972, his real name was Kyaw Soe. He graduated with an MBBS degree from the University of Medicine 2, Yangon in 2002 and later became a well-known writer. He was 54 years old at the time of his death.

 

He debuted with the novel “Lwan Loh Thay Thwar Tae Thitpin” and went on to write around 20 novels, including the popular work “Thonn­ya”. He also produced notable works such as “Kaung Kin Nae Ma Lut Tae Taung Pan Ta Sone”, “Kya Naw Hnint Alin Hmyaw Sin”, “Minthag­yi”, “Kyawnawt Ko Amay Thet Khae Tel”, “Thamee Pyaedaza”, and “Zat Thein Khan Ko Thin Ko Taing Phae Swet Yay­tharpar”.

 

He won the Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award Contest’s select­ed short stories genre in 2021 for “Gyit Kan Kan Short Stories”. He also translated the Harry Pot­ter series into Myanmar and worked in modern po­etry, fiction writing, film direction, and screenplay creation. — ASH/KZL
