An inauguration ceremony of an indoor stadium took place in Mohnyin, Kachin State yesterday morning.

The new indoor stadium was formally opened by Kachin State Minister for Social Affairs U Nay Win, Kachin State Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Kyaw Kyaw Win, Kachin State MP U Tin Aye and Deputy Commissioner U Khin Maung Lay by cutting a ceremonial ribbon. Next, the Kachin State Minister of Social Affairs made an opening speech and Director of the Sports and Physical Education Department U Myint Khaing presented sports gear to the township delegates.

Afterwards, demonstration of Myanmar traditional martial arts and physical fitness dance by the students from No.1 basic education high school and Myanmar traditional Chinlone by athletes from the Myanmar Chinlone Federation followed. Construction of the indoor stadium began in March and was completed in November this year. Men’s Sepak Takaraw and open volleyball contests will be held at the newly-opened indoor stadium.

The facility measuring 120 ft. in length, 90 ft. in width and 36 ft. in height was built by a private construction firm Kachin Ayar Co., with Ks. 237.5 million of funds allotted by the local government in the fiscal year 2018-2019.—Kyaw Kyaw Htwe (Mohnyin)
