A dry ration donation to 5,000 Sanghas and nuns jointly organized by Kayin State government, departments, town elders and donors was held at Hpa-An airfield yesterday morning.


At the event Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than’s wife Daw Nant Kyin Kyi, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko, Kayin State Chief Minister Nan Khin Htwe Myint, Taninthayi Region Chief Minister U Myint Maung, Kayin State Hluttaw Speaker U Saw Chit Khin and guests took the five precepts from State Sanghamahanayaka Vice Chairman Nyaungshwe Town Mongthauk monastery patron Sayadaw Abhidhaja Maharahtaguru Bhaddanta Thumingala and listened to parittas recitation by the Sanghas and nuns.


Next, Union Minister Thura U Aung Ko and Mon Ethnic Affairs Ministers U Min Tin Win deliver speeches on religious matters.


Afterwards, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker Mahn Khaing Than’s wife Daw Nant Kyin Kyi, Union Minister Thura U Aung Ko and donors donate dry ration and donations to State Sanghamahanayaka Sayadaws, 5,000 Sanghas and nuns from townships in Kayin State.


Later the Union Minister attended a ceremony to hoist golden umbrella (pagoda hti), vane, and diamond bud onto Kaung Mu Daw Pagoda in the compound of Mya Kyaing Taung Pagoda in Zote Thote Village, Bilin Township, Mon State.


Following the ceremony, the Union Minister inspected the construction of a cultural museum and fabrication of umbrellas (pagoda hti) for Kyaung Taw Yar pagodas in Magway Region, Pwintbyu Township. — MNA
