Mandalay, 23 December 

A total of over 3000 counterfeit notes of K 10000 were seized in a van at the traffic light between old Yangon-Mandalay road and Yadanarbon University road in Pyigyitagun township in the city of Mandalay yesterday morning. 

At about 4:00 am, a patrol police team stopped and searched a suspicious van. The police found counterfeit K 10000 notes put inside plastic boxes and five people in the car. 

The police arrested the five suspects in connection with the counterfeit notes and investigation is ongoing, said an official from Pyigyitagun Police station.—Kyaw Kyaw (Mahlaing)
