An event to offer a meal to the Buddhist monks by Christians was held at a Catholic church in in Annawa Ward, Kawthoung in Taninthayi Region on 25 December to celebrate the Christmas.

On the occasion, Father John Kyaw Zin Oo and sisters from St. Joseph Catholic Church donated dawn meal to the Buddhist monks as a gesture to mark celebration of the Christmas. The Buddhist monks also recited the “Paritta”, shared merits and wished all people around the world safe and happy.

The intention of the event is to promote mutual trust and peace among Buddhists and Christians and build a safe and secure community.—Kyaw Soe
